Literature review on Social Innovation for Security Perception and Security Behaviour

This deliverable presents a systematic literature review conducted in the framework of the CO-SECUR project, which aims to promote Social Innovations in Security (SIS) to improve security in public spaces and mass events. The review addresses the emerging and critical issue of promoting participatory, innovative and citizen-centred security measures in Europe.

Inspirational use-cases on Social Innovation in Security

This booklet showcases real-life initiatives across Europe demonstrating how social innovation enhances public space security. It offers practical examples of collaboration between authorities, police, NGOs, and communities to address security challenges. Aimed at professionals in urban security, it seeks to inform and inspire adaptable solutions. Based on two years of research in 9 countries, it also lays groundwork for future policy guidance.

Lessons learnt on how to implement SIS involving citizens

This deliverable summarises key lessons from Social Innovation for Security initiatives across nine European countries. It highlights the importance of citizen participation, ethical technology, strong governance, and context-driven approaches. The findings emphasise the need for sustained investment to ensure long-term impact. These insights support improved models and plans for scalable, socially grounded urban security solutions in Europe.
